100% of all proceeds to be distributed to Band of Parents, a not for profit corporation duly incorporated in the State of New York, which has provided grassroot support for the development of cutting-edge neuroblastoma therapies at MSK (particularly, 3F8 antibody therapy). Band of Parents also supports families costs relative to traveling to New York for neuroblastoma treatment.
The Ford Tough Festival & Concert is inspired by the family and friends of Ford Bartle (our "Ford Tough Family"). Ford is a 4 year old from Mars, Pennsylvania who was diagnosed with High-Risk Stage IV Neuroblastoma in August 2019. Presently, he continues to receive consolidation treatments for his battle against Neuroblastoma at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center ("MSK") in New York City. Ford has battled through initial frontline treatments, tumor resection surgery, and a relapse regimen over the past two years and continues to smile along the way. He, like his young peers battling childhood cancer, embodies the essence of 'Ford Tough.'
Some of the treatments that Ford receives include antibody immunotherapies and vaccination options that are not readily available anywhere else in the world but at MSK in New York City. MSK has pioneered these treatments and as a result attracts families battling Neuroblastoma from all over the USA (and world).
Helping impacted familes
The Bartle's and many other families affected by Neuroblastoma are fortunate to have these groundbreaking treatment options available at MSK as well as a best-in-class surgical team; however, logistical and travel burdens related to long-term treatment schedules or surgical recovery in New York City can be more than burdensome and disruptive to these little warriors and their families. Realizing this firsthand, the Bartle family is motivated to make any impact they can to lessen this burden for impacted families.
Ford TOugh Foundation
When the chance to host country singer Steve Moakler on his 2021 Hometowns & Campgrounds Tour became available, the Ford Tough Family jumped at the opportunity in an effort to combine
a fun night for the community with fundraising. The goal is to make this the first of many fun community events for years to come and to support the creation of the 'Ford Tough Foundation.' This will allow the Ford Tough Family to support similarly impacted families for years to come and until cutting-edge Neuroblastoma treatments are within closer reach
to everyone worldwide.
"The sad fact is that due to the high cost of research and the small number of children diagnosed annually, pediatric cancer is severely underfunded by both the pharmaceutical industry and the federal government. Less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute’s funding goes to fight pediatric cancer."
